Baseball sweeps Iowa Wesleyan, tied for tournament spot

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team earned a pair of victories over Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday.  The Panthers won game one by a 7-5 score, and then they took game two 4-1.

Jonah Moore picked up the pitching win in game one.  He went 6.1 innings, giving up just two earned runs.  He yielded the mound to Austin Rexroad who closed the game for his third save.

Greenville outfielders Austin Marsh, Andrew Torbeck, and C.J. Falls all produced two hits in the game.

The Panthers took a 3-1 lead in the second inning and increased their advantage to 7-1 with a run in the fourth inning and three in the fifth.

They managed to hold on for the win after Iowa Wesleyan mounted a late comeback.

Game two was a brisk two hour game as pitcher Adam Lamb worked through Iowa Wesleyan's lineup.  He only permitted one run in eight innings to improve to 3-3.  Sam Alendar struck out two in the ninth inning to produce his first save.

The Panthers scored one in the second inning for a 1-0 lead and Iowa Wesleyan tied the game in the top of the sixth.  The Panthers got three runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-1 advantage.

Greenville made the most of their hits as three of their six hits produced RBI's.

Jesse Getz, Travis Ralls, and Sam Hodges all had RBI singles.

The Panthers (13-14, 8-6 SLIAC) travel to Blackburn for a game on Friday.
